Established 1981, Giant Bear Tracks is a record label, of a sort.
The label was founded on McLuhan's premise that the medium is the message. A CD-R is a different medium from an mp3, from a cassette, from an LP, and how we perceive music is fundamentally connected to the medium it is transmitted on.
All Giant Bear Tracks releases are single-medium releases. CD-Rs will not be accompanied by identical mp3s, or vice-versa. The medium matters, and each release is tailored to a particular medium.
